What Missouri Sportsbooks Are Legal?

There are currently eight legal online Missouri sportsbooks:

  • bet365
  • BetMGM
  • Caesars Sportsbook
  • Circa Sports
  • DraftKings
  • Fanatics Sportsbook
  • FanDuel
  • theScore Bet (formerly ESPN BET)

Missouri sports betting legislation allows for up to 14 mobile licenses, meaning we could see more operators joining the market in the coming months.

When Will Missouri Sportsbooks Launch?

Missouri sportsbooks officially launched on December 1, 2025. This was the latest possible date, as Amendment 2 specifically stated sports betting had to be up and running by the start of December.

How Many Sportsbooks Are There in Missouri?

Currently, there have been 16 licenses awarded by the MGC. This includes eight mobile MO sportsbooks and eight retail locations. The online platforms are all available today, but it will take longer for all eight Missouri retail sportsbooks to be up and running.

The legislation that passed in 2024 allows for up to 14 online sportsbooks in MO: six awarded to Missouri's casino companies, six to Missouri's professional sports teams, and two untethered licenses.

Additionally, each separate casino property and pro sports team district can have a retail sportsbook. This means there are 19 retail licenses available, making a total of 33 potential Missouri betting licenses.

Potential Retail Missouri Sportsbooks

The bill making sports betting legal also includes Missouri retail sportsbooks. With 13 casinos across the Show-Me State, you'll be able to place bets in person at these retail sportsbooks.

What Is the Legal Age to Bet in Missouri?

You must be at least 21 to gamble in Missouri in casinos, at poker tables in riverboat casinos, and in daily fantasy sports games. At 18, you can play lottery and pari-mutuel betting, and at 16 charity games are allowed.

Charity games typically mean bingo, while pari-mutuel wagering generally applies to pari-mutuel wagering on horse races. While pari-mutuel bets on horses are technically legal at 18, other regulations regarding such betting essentially make it unavailable for Missouri bettors of any age.

If you have further questions on age requirements, check out our legal Missouri gambling age page.

Do I Need to Be a Resident to Bet on Sports in Missouri?

No, you do not need to be a resident of Missouri to use any future online sports betting sites or apps. The expectation when sports betting in Missouri is eventually regulated is that you'll only have to be within state lines and aged 21 or older. This is pretty much how it's gone in neighboring states and it's been an effective system thus far.

Pros and Cons of Missouri Sports Betting

Illegal Sportsbooks in Missouri

With all of the chatter surrounding sports betting in MO, you may see some people or resources promote offshore betting sites. These illegal sportsbooks operate outside of the law in every state, but are just beginning to be policed by state sports betting regulators.

At BetMissouri.com, we strongly recommend against using these sportsbooks given there is no safety, regulations, oversight, or precautions built into the platforms. This means there are no protections given to you as a customer, leaving your personal and banking information at risk.

Here are the more common unregulated operators to look for, and here's our full list of illegal sportsbooks in MO.

Bovada Sportsbook

Bovada Sportsbook in Missouri may be tempting to use, but it's an offshore, illegal sportsbook where you're not protected by the law. For those reasons and so many more, we highly recommend against using sportsbooks such as Bovada.

MyBookie Sportsbook

MyBookie Sportsbook in Missouri is also illegal to use in any state. Be cautious of using this instead of trusted, regulated brands such BetMGM, Caesars Sportsbook and others.

BetOnline BetUS Sportsbook

BetOnline Sportsbook in Missouri could appear as a legal sportsbook just like BetMGM, Hard Rock Bet or others, but this is another illegal, offshore sportsbook that we do not suggest using.

Who Regulates Sports Betting in Missouri?

The Missouri Gaming Commission is in charge of licensing and regulating sports betting in Missouri. Currently, the MGC is in the process of preparing regulations and the sports betting licensing process ahead of the opening of the state's legal sports betting market.

Outside of sports wagering, the MGC also regulates riverboat casinos, charitable bingo, and daily fantasy sports contests in Missouri.

How to Contact the Missouri Gaming Commission

If you have any questions related to gambling in the state, you may want to contact the Missouri Gaming Commission:

Missouri Sports Betting Taxes

Missouri bettors have to pay federal taxes if they win $5,000 or more and are taxed at 24%.

If you have any additional questions on paying gambling taxes on your winnings, make sure to check out our Missouri Gambling Tax Calculator page.

The tax rate for legal sports betting in Missouri is 10% of sports betting revenue, far below the national average of 19% that sportsbooks paid last year. However, sports bettors won't have to worry about these taxes as they are paid to the state by legal sports betting apps, online betting sites or retail wagering locations.

Choosing the Best Sportsbooks in Missouri

For online sports betting in MO, residents have plenty of options to choose from the available eight sportsbooks.

Deciding which of the Missouri online sportsbooks is best for you can be a complicated choice with many factors to consider. Here's how BetMissouri.com reviews sportsbooks and what we think about before making a decision.

Read Reviews

You're in the right spot to read reviews of anticipated sportsbooks in MO. Right here on BetMissouri.com, sports betting experts give you their opinion and share their own personal sports betting experiences, including overviews on promos and bonuses, user interface, customer support and banking.

Types of Bets Allowed

The major Missouri sports betting sites are expected to offer a lot of similar types of bets. In fact, as you compare operators, you'll find a lot of overlap between sportsbooks in general. But finding a bet type on the menu that its competition lacks can make a huge difference.

Odds Pricing

Again, the similarities in odds pricing across the most popular sports bets will make the differences stand out that much more. If one sportsbook has the Kansas City Royals as a -125 favorite on the moneyline and another has them at -128, that's probably not going to make or break one place over the other. But if you're putting a futures bet down on the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Odds, and two places have a 200 point difference, that's significant.

Welcome Bonus

As part of the kickoff of legal Missouri sports betting, sportsbooks are going to dangle plenty of welcome offers to get local bettors playing on their turf. These offers can include bet credits refunded for losing bets, bonuses added to your first deposit, and points towards rewards programs to name a few.

User Experience

The user experience you'll encounter on Missouri sports betting sites is another factor to consider when choosing where to spend your time and money. After all, if a website or app is a chore to use, you're not going to want to open it. The welcome bonuses are useful here, as you can get a feel for how the software looks on the screen as well as how stable and responsive it is to use.

Deposit + Withdrawals

In short, the more options Missouri betting sites will honor, the better. You'll likely find ways to move your money to and from your account that work best for you, but having a backup option can't hurt. When you're choosing where to play, make a note of how long withdrawals take to process, and how long your preferred withdrawal methods will take after that.

Customer Service

Especially while the state is getting used to online betting, Missouri sports bettors will want to know that issues can be resolved quickly should they come up. Knowing that a sportsbook has multiple methods for reaching an agent at any hour can certainly put a player's mind at ease.

Why Sign Up for Multiple Missouri Sports Betting Sites?

Our experts recommend having more than one MO sports betting site at your disposal. The best time to register is right now, when operators are trying to get cash in on the excitement of the launch and are battling for your business.

Here are a few key reasons you'll want to consider signing up for multiple Missouri sportsbooks.

Take Advantage of Welcome Promotions

Whenever you register for a new account with a sportsbook, you can claim its new user promotion. Signing up for more than one mobile betting site allows you to get added value from each one. Most MO sportsbooks will have minimal deposit and wagering requirements for the offer, letting you try out multiple platforms for a small initial investment.

Get the Best Odds

One of the key reasons we suggest registering for more than one Missouri online sportsbook is to get the best possible odds. This is referred to as "line shopping" and ensures you get the best potential payout for your wagers. Searching for the highest payout will also keep you in the game longer and protect your bankroll.

With multiple operators at your disposal, there's no reason to bet on the Chiefs moneyline at -150 when you can get it at -115 somewhere else, as an example.

Access to Different Features

Different sportsbooks have different features, such as live streaming, player prop protection, free-to-play games, and more. Some operators release betting markets later than their competitors, while some betting markets may not be available at all on others.

What You Can Bet On with Missouri Sportsbooks

There are different options when it comes to types of sports for Missouri bettors to place wagers on. The top leagues are sure to be available, while some others are uncertain.

NFL

The NFL is the No. 1 betting sport in the U.S., hands down. Any of the Missouri betting sites will offer bets on NFL games, including the home-state Kansas City Chiefs.

NBA

The NBA's fast action and long season lend itself well to wagering especially when it comes to parlays. Many of the betting sites will offer odds on international leagues as well.

MLB

Missouri is host to two MLB teams, so fans of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals will have plenty to look forward to while betting on the MLB once sports betting in Missouri goes live.

NHL

Missouri bettors will enjoy being able to wager on the St. Louis Blues, a contender in the NHL playoffs each of the last several seasons. Once sports betting does go live in the state, locals will be eager to bet on the NHL in Missouri.

College Sports

Plenty of states don't restrict wagering on college games. Several states, like Massachusetts, New York and New Jersey, allow bets on college teams, but not in-state college teams. In Missouri, betting on in-state schools will be allowed, but player props involving Missouri-based schools will be banned.

So bettors will be able to bet on the Missouri Tigers' odds, but not individual Mizzou players.

Soccer

Missouri fields two MLS teams (Sporting KC, which is technically located in Kansas but claimed by Kansas Citians on both sides of the border, and St. Louis City SC), but you'll also find odds on leagues from all over the globe. And come 2026, the World Cup will hold several games at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Golf

With the Saudi-owned upstart LIV Golf challenging the PGA Tour for domination in men's golf, the landscape has never been more intense. Bet on match play, major tournaments like The Masters or Ryder Cup or live props while the match goes on.

eSports

Not every state allows betting on eSports which, to the uninitiated, are competitive video games. If Missouri gambling laws allow it, expect to see odds on League of Legends and Counter-Strike, for starters.

Politics

It's a question in every sports betting state - "can you bet on politics?" And in every sports betting state, the answer to that question is "no." It's expected to be no different for Missouri sportsbooks, but if we're wrong on that point, you can check out our Missouri Political Betting page.

Popular Ways to Bet at Legal MO Sports Betting Sites

Here are some of the most common wager types that could be found at legal Missouri online sportsbooks.

Missouri's Professional Sports Teams to Bet On

One of the reasons legal sports betting in MO has been a hot topic for the past few years is due to the history, presence, and support of several pro sports teams. The following professional teams in Missouri are sure to see plenty of action now that betting is officially live across the state.

  • Kansas City Chiefs  There's no doubt that the Kansas City Chiefs will bring in the most attention when it comes to Missouri sportsbooks. With the NFL as the biggest betting sport in the country and the Chiefs' recent success in the Super Bowl, every other team in the state is fighting for second place. Expect the Chiefs' playoff chances to be a sure lock on an annual basis.
  • St. Louis Cardinals The Cards have a habit of making an offseason move that goes under the radar outside of Missouri that makes a major difference. So make sure to follow along and make sure to bet on the Cardinals' playoff chances every season. The Cards have a marketing partnership with bet365, so look out for brand advertising at Busch Stadium and on the team's media platforms.
  • Kansas City Royals  2015 is starting to feel like a long time ago, but at least the rise of star shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. has been exciting to follow alongside the Royals' World Series odds.
  • St. Louis Blues The pieces haven't come together the way anyone was expecting, and the fans were hoping for. The Blues have regularly been in NHL playoff contention but haven't had much success past that. Anyway, Alexa, Play "Gloria".
  • St. Louis City SC The newest expansion franchise in MLS came in hot with an unexpected winning streak that got the fans excited. Seeing live soccer will only be made that much more exciting when you can bet from your seat at CITYPARK.
  • Sporting Kansas City The longer tenured MLS team in the state, Sporting KC got off to a rocky start in the 2024 campaign. But yeah, the offices are still in Missouri, even if they play across the river now, so it counts.

MO Sportsbooks Partnered With Local Teams

Missouri sports betting law allows for six licenses awarded to the state's professional sports teams. Fans of online sportsbooks can look forward to the possibility of perks when betting their favorite team on the team's partner.

So far, we have bet365 with the St. Louis Cardinals and DraftKings Sportsbook with the St. Louis Blues.

As the launch gets closer, expect to hear of deals involving the Kansas City Royals, as well as Sporting KC and St. Louis City SC.

Live Legal MO Betting & Gambling Options

While waiting for online sports betting, Missouri residents can explore other forms of gambling across the state.

Casinos

There are 13 Missouri casinos licensed and in operation across the state, all on riverboats on the Missouri or Mississippi Rivers. These riverboat casinos are also the only places in the state where you'll find legal poker rooms.

Missouri's sports betting legislation provides for three online sportsbook licenses per casino, as well as the potential for retail sportsbooks on premises.

  • To learn more about the legislation making casinos legal in the Show-Me State, check out our review on Proposition A in Missouri

Horse Racing

In Missouri, horse racing is technically legal, and pari-mutuel betting has a minimum age of 18, which is lower than the casinos. Why technically? Betting on horse races in Missouri was made legal in 1984, but there are no legal avenues to bet on horses at this time.

Since there aren't any operational horse race tracks, the legal status of horse race betting is a moot point.

  • To learn more about the legislation making horse racing legal in the Show-Me State, check out our review on Amendment 7 in Missouri

Lottery

The Missouri state lottery has been operating since 1986 with all the standard types of luck-based games. Those over the age of 18 can play scratchers, pull tabs, keno and more, including multi-state games like Powerball.

While several other states have their sports betting administered through their lottery commissions, Missouri has not seen fit to do so.

Daily Fantasy Sports

DFS in Missouri have been legal since 2016 and are highly popular ways to get in on the sports action in the Show-Me State. If you're over the age of 18, you can sign up with one of the many DFS operators and into a daily fantasy sports contest for real money!

Responsible Gambling in Missouri

The gambling industry understands that sports bettors using their services responsibly is an important piece of what they do. The sports betting operators and the state work hand in hand to ensure that there are guardrails in place for players to keep from getting in over their heads.

Common methods include the ability for players to set limits within the software, cool-down periods that will freeze accounts, and even self-exclusion to keep players out entirely.

A portion of the tax revenue collected by the state is set to fund programs to encourage gambling responsibly. If you think you may have a gambling problem, please head to our Missouri Responsible Gambling page or contact the National Council on Problem Gambling or the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
