Amendment 2 Sports Betting Licenses

Amendment 2 allows for up to 14 sports betting licenses. These licenses are available to:

  • 6 to Missouri Casino Operators (Affinity Interactive, Boyd gaming, Bally's Corp, Caesars Entertainment, Century Casinos, PENN Entertainment)
  • 6 to Missouri's Pro Sports Teams (KC Chiefs, KC Royals, KC Current, STL Blues, STL Cardinals, STL City SC)
  • 2 Untethered Licenses

It remains to be seen which operators will claim these licenses, but each will offer a unique experience and Missouri sportsbook bonuses.

Sports Betting License Fees in Missouri

Sports betting license fees will vary depending on the license type, as detailed in the Amendment 2 text, and it's worth noting that fees haven't been finalized just yet. 

  • Retail licensees will cost up to $250,000, with renewals up to $250,000 every 5 years. 
  • Mobile and online licensees will cost up to $500,000, with renewals up to $500,000 every 5 years. 

Sports Betting Tax

Amendment 2 institutes a sports betting tax of 10% on adjusted gross revenue from sports betting. And this goes for sports betting licensees and sports betting operators acting on behalf of a licensee. Annual revenue received from sports betting will go toward funding for educational purposes.

Sports Betting Regulator

Amendment 2 establishes the Missouri Gaming Commission as the sports betting regulator for the Show-Me State. That includes licensing and regulating sports betting activities in the state. The MGC also carries similar responsibilities for the state's riverboat casinos, daily fantasy sports and charitable bingo.
