Missouri MLB Betting Guide: How to Bet on MLB in MO

Fact Checked by Wes Roesch

Although Missouri sports betting won't be ready for Opening Day, MO bettors won't have to wait much longer after that. I'll go over everything you need to know about how to bet on the MLB in Missouri along with some of the most popular MLB odds and betting markets.

How to Bet on MLB in Missouri

If you're brand new to betting, the following info will help you prepare to place your first MLB bet in Missouri.

1. Download An App

Before you can place a bet, you first have to figure out which sportsbook app you want to use. With the potential for up to 14 MO betting apps, this may seem like a daunting task. For the most part, every operator will have the basics covered when it comes to betting on the MLB in MO so as long as you're using a legal and licensed site, you really can't go wrong.

Which app you use will come down to personal preference. I always suggest signing up for multiple operators so you can find the best odds prior to placing any wagers. Finding the best price will give you the best potential payout which benefits you in the long run. Here are some of my favorite things about the operators we expect to be available:

  • DraftKings - Best for player props and overall market variety
  • FanDuel - Best for beginners
  • Caesars - Best for odds boosts
  • BetMGM - Best for localized experience
  • bet365 - Best for early payouts
  • Fanatics - Best for rewards program

This can serve as a starting point but it's a good idea to download each app and spend a few minutes on each to see which one fits your fancy. Most sites will allow you to browse without having to sign up first.

2. Claim Your Welcome Offer

If this is your first time signing up for a particular operator, you'll be able to claim new user Missouri sportsbook promos. While this isn't required, there is generally no reason not to take advantage of these bonuses.

Once these offers are officially available, we'll provide exclusive codes and links so you can get the most out of your betting experience. This will include things like bonus bets, bet insurance, and more.

3. Find the Bet You Want to Place

As mentioned above, different operators have varying levels of market variety and depth for each sport, MLB included. Here's a list of the most popular types of MLB wagers with a brief description of each.

  • Moneyline - The simplest type of wager, MLB moneylines task you with betting on the winner of that game.
  • Run line - Although they go by a different name, run lines are essentially just spread bets for the MLB. The biggest difference here is the run line is almost always set at 1.5. If the Cardinals are favored, you would see -1.5 next to their name and they would have to win by at least 2 runs for you to win your wager. On the flip side, +1.5 means they could lose by a run and your run line wager would still hit.
  • Totals - Totals, or over/unders, refer to the total number of combined runs by both teams in a given game. If a total is set at 6.5, over bettors would need at least 7 runs while under bettors would be hoping for 6 or fewer.
  • Parlays - An MLB parlay wager is simply combining two or more bets (referred to as legs) into a single ticket. Bettors do this as a way to increase the odds of a bet, but parlays come with increased risk as every leg must hit in order for your wager to settle as a winner. If you place a 4-leg parlay, for example, all four wagers have to win for your bet to be successful.
  • Props - MLB props can be placed on a team level or on individual players. This could be something like the total number of strikeouts the Cardinals have or betting whether or not Bobby Witt Jr. will hit a home run.

4. Determine Your Bet Size

While this step is often overlooked, it is one of the most important things you can do as a bettor. Depending on how much money you can responsibly deposit will help determine how much you should be betting. Setting a limit and sticking to it will help keep money in your account and stop you from chasing losses.
