With Spring Training wrapped up, BetMissouri.com was curious how the Kansas City Royals have historically done during the regular season, compared to their Spring Training results.

Using Baseball-Reference.com, we found the Spring Training and regular season winning percentage for each MLB team between 2022-2024.

We then found the difference between Spring Training and regular season winning percentages across those seasons, and ranked teams based on the difference. Based on the average difference, we calculated the 2025 regular season winning percentage for the Kansas City Royals.

How Will Royals Fare in 2025?

After a scorching hot Cactus League campaign where the Royals finished second with a 20-12 (.625) record, it’s reasonable to expect big things from the AL Central stalwarts as they look to return to the postseason after a surprise 86-76 (.531) campaign in 2024.

Over the last few years, though, Kansas City’s end of season winning percentage has been .105 lower than the team’s figure in Spring Training, which tells us that the Royals’ 2025 figure will wind up at .520, which would likely put them on the outside looking in at the AL postseason bracket on MO betting apps.

Based on the preseason odds from DraftKings Sportsbook, it seems like Kansas City has a pretty good shot at returning to the postseason, however, with +110 odds of doing so (ranking ninth out 15 teams in the AL) with a win total over/under of 83.5 this MLB season.

For now, baseball fans in the Crossroads can look forward to an action-packed MLB season for the Royals, with homegrown talent like Bobby Witt Jr. leading the charge towards another postseason run this year. Based on the preseason projections from FanGraphs.com, it seems like Witt’s stellar 2024 campaign could be just the start of a top-notch run for the Texas native, with a preseason WAR projection of 6.0 for the AL Central stalwarts in 2025.
