What Color Gatorade Will The Super Bowl Winner Dump?

Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

While millions of Americans will watch Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans with an eye on which of the two teams will emerge with the Vince Lombardi trophy firmly in their grasp, others will tune into the broadcast in order to determine which color sports drink will be thrust upon the winning coach.

According to the New York Post, the NFL has gone with orange as the Gatorade color du jour five times since 2001, which would make the classic flavor a no-brainer as a favorite come 2025, though other sports drink favorites like blue, yellow, and red are in the running to win out in Super Bowl LIX.

What we do know right now is that the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are currently listed as 1.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, with a -125 moneyline on the AFC West squad compared with +105 odds on the men from the City of Brotherly Love.

One of the most iconic traditions of winning the biggest championship in the league is dumping a cooler of Gatorade on the winning team’s head coach. BetMissouri.com developed exclusive odds, projecting which color Gatorade would be dumped on, either Andy Reid or Nick Sirianni.

Which Gatorade Color Will Win Out?

Come Feb. 9, we’re going with orange to be the color once again, with the traditional Gatorade flavor holding +200 odds right now to narrowly beat out blue as the sports drink flavor to beat, with the brighter hue listed at +250, while yellow (+450) and red (+600) are also in the running come Feb. 9.

For now, we’re going with orange Gatorade to get the nod as the postgame dump color of choice for the sixth time in the last quarter-century, as the classic flavor is our top pick for Super Bowl LIX as head coaches Andy Reid of the Chiefs and Nick Sirianni of the Eagles await their postgame sports drink bath fate.
